Does anyone know which sebool it is to allow httpd write access to /home/user/html? When I disable selinux echo 0 > /selinux/enforce I can write, so definitely selinux. Just don't know which one is the right one without opening a big hole and Google isn't being much help.

None of them, at least not by itself. You must either give the directory structure a context of httpd_sys_rw_content_t, or give them a context of public_content_rw_t and enable allow_httpd_anon_write and/or allow_httpd_sys_script_anon_write. See the httpd_selinux(8) man page for details.

Well, I ran chcon -R -t httpd_sys_rw_content_t user and it worked. Just a bit worried because I have replaced user_home_dir_t and the implications. –  Christian Oct 11 '12 at 22:41

It replaces the existing context. But unless you're running the strict policy this doesn't matter since user processes run in unconfined_t, which can access all contexts given the appropriate *nix permissions. –  Ignacio Vazquez-Abrams Oct 11 '12 at 22:42

Hi Inacio. Although I am now able to run the website without any problems, I am unable to upload over FTP unless I set the chcon back to user_home_dir_t. Any other ideas :) I'm using vsftpd. –  Christian Oct 12 '12 at 14:10

Create another context that both vsftpd's and httpd's domain have write access to. It's a bit more work, but it's far less drastic than disabling SELinux for one or both daemons. –  Ignacio Vazquez-Abrams Oct 12 '12 at 14:25

mm.. never done that before, will need to do some research :p. Thanks –  Christian Oct 12 '12 at 14:30
