Unix & Linux Stack Exchange is a question and answer site for users of Linux, FreeBSD and other Un*x-like operating systems.. It's 100% free, no registration required.

There is a website of a browser game http://tankionline.com. I can open the website but when I try to connect from either Ubuntu or Mint to any of their servers for playing it gives me an error message like connection to server ... failed or something similar. I assume this is the firewall issue but any solution which I can google does not help me.

Any idea on how to solve it is appreciated.

Thank you.

1) Welcome to this community! 2) Don't double-post. 3) Mint is based on Ubuntu which makes your Mint question on-topic on AskUbuntu. 4) Post a proper question, not just a link. – Marco Sep 19 '12 at 11:39
@Marco I assumed the Ask Ubuntu and Unix&Linux are two different communities, and people from one of them may not look at threads of the other. Sorry for double posting. Shall I remove it? – Alexandr Sep 19 '12 at 11:44
AskUbuntu and Unix.SE are differenct communities. However, with a large overlap. The topics are similar, but they target a different audience. You will find similar questions on both sites. It is not generally wrong to post on both sites, but not in a way you did. 1) You posted on both sites at the same time. You could have waited a week until you re-post on this site. 2) Questions that only contain a link are likely to be down voted and eventually closed. Either you improve this question with more valuable information that might also be relevant to others or consider deleting it. – Marco Sep 19 '12 at 11:53
