I have an Intel wireless card driven by
iwlwifi, and I can see the following message in dmesg:
iwlwifi 0000:03:00.0: loaded firmware version 126.96.36.199 build 42301
But how do I know which firmware is loaded?
The iwlwifi driver loads the microcode file for your wifi adapter at startup. If you want to know which one of the /usr/lib/firmware/.ucode* files is loaded you can use something like this script
and compare the output to your dmesg message.
I had to make some minor adjustments to that script... remove the comma on line 28,
and will see 'firmware:' section, or even just directly:
This is show you all firmware's which use the such module.
Also you can try to review line before this, it may contain info like 'firmware: requesting ...'
