Unix & Linux Stack Exchange is a question and answer site for users of Linux, FreeBSD and other Un*x-like operating systems.. It's 100% free, no registration required.

I've recently bought a phone assuming I'd be able to share pc Internet access that will run as an access point. So, I've got Samsung i9001 (Android 2.3.4) and usb-wifi adapter (tl-wn727n). I looked around Internet and found linuxwireless site where I downloaded and installed compat-wireless-2.6.tar.bz2 package. Next, I tried to create and configure wireless network via Network Manager. I picked the simplest type - "Open" and it seems to be running. However, I can't find any wifi connections with my phone.

I've also seen a couple of messages about issues specifically related to Android 2.3.4.

Any suggestions, please ?

I don't understand where you're stuck. Are you trying to set up an access point? What did you do to put your USB adapter in AP mode, or is this the problem? – Gilles Jun 16 '12 at 23:28
