How can I install Fedora 16 Live (32-bit) from an external HDD connected via USB? I tried it with Universal-USB-Installer and received an error message that there was no drive found to be mounted and the NTFS format was not recognized.

In Netbootin, the external HDD does not even get recognized in Windows 8 CP and is not selectable in the drop down menu, even though it is visible and writable in Windows Explorer.

I have successfully installed with this method before with Ubuntu 12.04 and Universal-USB-Installer, but with Fedora 16 it did not work for me.

How do I fix this issue? Will it work if I simply format the external HDD in vFat instead of NTFS? I have read that others have gotten it to work with vFat.

I am not sure if this answers your question, but I tried installing Fedora with unetbootin before ( using usb ) and it worked fine. –  user14039 Apr 27 '12 at 18:56
