Unix & Linux Stack Exchange is a question and answer site for users of Linux, FreeBSD and other Un*x-like operating systems.. It's 100% free, no registration required.

I don't know if this is the right StackExchange site or a valid question at all, but seeing the success of this one I'll give it a try.

I'll be having a little unix/security stand with my friend on something like a science fair on my university, and the biggest problem last year was drawing people's attention to the stand. Last time we used wireshark to display what's happening in the wifi network (very colorful and attention-drawing) and a webcam which got it's video converted with aalib.

I'd love to have some eyecandy app running to draw attention, any suggestions? I've seen some log-analysis and code-analysis stuff that displayed nice animations but I can't really find it anymore. Also I've been thining of using bgplay, but it doesn't look very pretty ;(

Could also try UX.SE - not really on topic but they do cover the user experience, and that could well include demos – Rory Alsop Oct 17 '11 at 21:32
@RoryAlsop I checked; they don't want it. This isn't particularly useful on any site, it begs for lists of things people think "look cool". I almost closed that hacker scene one for the same reason; I'm not sure why I didn't, but looking at the answers now, it probably would've been a good idea – Michael Mrozek Oct 17 '11 at 21:42

Some OpenCV demos with video tracking should do the trick.
