I have pulseaudio installed,.but no sound on a newly installed Debian Squeeze.

Kindly throw some light.

What does pavucontrol show for output devices? Is the right one selected for your app? Is it showing anythin gin the volume meter? – Caleb Aug 24 '11 at 21:46

You'll have to give more information than none if you want helpful responses. Some information about the soundcard would be useful. Perhaps the output of lspci has something relevant. – Faheem Mitha Aug 24 '11 at 23:32
use grep audio, with dmesg, lspci -k , if you have no lspci, install appropriate package. mb your user is outside audio group. try with root – Xsi Nov 23 '12 at 16:24
