Are there any performance differences between e.g.: Ubuntu 11.04 and OpenBSD 4.9? I mean using them on a laptop. e.g.: EXT4 is faster then OpenBSD's fs?

UPDATE: I mean for e.g.: everyday desktop use, filesystem

Why do you expect any substantial raw performance difference? – alex Jun 3 '11 at 10:17

These OSes are so large that you need to be more specific (e.g. filesystem performance). I don't expect that anyone did a comprehensive study of each OS enough to come with a worthy answer. – Tshepang Jun 3 '11 at 10:19
Tshepang's got the right idea. Besides, you can choose to use a different file system and lots of other options at install time of Ubuntu (and presumably OpenBSD). If you haven't tried either, I'd recommend Ubuntu for simplicity. – l0b0 Jun 3 '11 at 11:35

OpenBSD performs way much better.
