I started experimenting with dual-booted computers a couple months ago. I was running Ubuntu 13 alongside Windows 8 and then I decided to update to Windows 8.1 when prompted. It made it so that GRUB no longer would pop up and the computer booted straight into the Windows partition.
I have just gotten to fixing it now, but I wanted to try out the Linux Mint 16 distribution. I just installed from a Live USB as I would any other time. I created a swap partition along with a root ("/") partition over my old Linux install and left all of my Windows file systems intact. I selected to install the bootloader to the UEFI boot partition and after completion of the install I ran boot-repair.
I can get into Linux by Shift-clicking the restart button in Windows but I do not have GRUB as I used to with my dual-boot. I was wondering if I installed correctly and/or if there is something I can do to get GRUB back?
I have also run sudo update-grub with no luck
